Hi! My name is Nicole Risch and I am a setter from the class of 2023. I am very passionate about volleyball; I am a positive person. I am coachable in school and volleyball. I can easily approach people. My Christian faith is a very big influence in my daily life.
In search of my sport, I started soccer, lacrosse, baseball, karate, and cheerleading. Finally, in the Fall of 2017, I found volleyball and played for my seventh-grade team, and I loved it. The following year of Fall 2018 I was a captain for 8th-grade volleyball. In my years of high school, I made the freshmen team once and the varsity team three times. This year will mark my third season of being on varsity.
In addition to my school sports, I was in a club for 5 years 2017-2022 with the Five Starz Volleyball Club in Woodland, CA. I was captain 3 of those five years. I joined camps/tourneys with UC Davis, Moxie Beach, Grass Volleyball, and Sand Devils in the nearby area. Also, I did some private volleyball lessons to keep myself active. Playing school and club volleyball have influenced me in a way where I am pushed to manage my time, have disciple, and stay active.
I am very passionate about school, and it is a number one priority for me. I really want to get into a good college and pursue volleyball, while receiving a great education; I am very interested in studying psychology, and in the future, I want to work with children by either becoming a child psychologist or physical therapist. From seventh to ninth grade I always got at least one student of the month award. In ninth grade, I was a WEB leader, and I also got a Presidential Award (Outstanding Academic Excellence) out of 223 ninth graders in my school. Additionally, in my sophomore year, I got a Davis Rotary student of the month. Throughout my years at school, I have maintained a GPA of 4.0.
