Hello, I am Tabitha Joyce, I play Volleyball for Escondido High School's varsity team, as well as Genuine Volleyball Club's 18-1s team. I am a senior , I am 5'4; I play the position of Setter, but also have the background and ability to step in as an Opposite or DS. I started my volleyball career when I was nine years old or 4th grade. I first began playing on a recreational team at the YMCA. Before I started playing volleyball I was already active in playing other sports such as soccer, flag football, baseball and track and field. I choose volleyball because I used to go watch my mom play on a recreational team for church. It seemed so fun, everyone's competitive spirit and passion for the game drew me in. I wanted to experience that same feeling so I knew I needed to be apart of this sport as soon as possible.
I have now been playing volleyball for seven years. It has shaped me into the person I am and also helped me to create long lasting friendships. Being part of multiple teams has helped me grow from being shy and closed off, to a outgoing person who is eager to accept every opportunity thrown her way. Volleyball has made me explore more challenging opportunities and giving me confidence to and try new things. This lesson has pushed me to be involve in school clubs such ASB (associated student body) and FCA (fellowship of Christian Athletes); as well as joining new sports, such as water polo. This is a completely new sport for me going into high school, but I managed to pick it up quickly, making varsity my sophomore year. So without volleyball I would not have the friends I have today and would not be the person I am now, this is why I want to continuing playing for as long as possible.
