My name is Bonnie Baldwin, and I am a 5'8" Libero/DS/OH graduating through a Distance Learning program in the year 2019. I enjoy playing volleyball year-round during the fall, club, and beach seasons. I have had 3 years of club experience and have started on my school team for 3 years. My first year of club, I played a year up and was the team captain with Chelsea Piers Athletic Club. My team last year, Downstate Juniors 16 Black, participated in Nationals 2018--we came in 15th in the Patriot Division. I have a 3.94 GPA despite combining 7th and 8th grade (I worked ahead to graduate in 2019), and I finished Junior year with straight A's. I am also a member of the National Honors Society. I have recently committed to playing for Downstate Juniors 17 Red.
I am looking for an institution where I can find the right balance between the volleyball court and the classroom. I am planning on majoring in psychology, possibly with a minor in music. I am interested in moderately sized schools in the south and west and am looking for academic scholarships. I believe that my best fit would be a Christian/Catholic school at the DIII level. I am looking for a team that I can make an impact on, and possibly play on as a freshman. Ideally, I would play DS/Libero and possibly be the team captain in later years on the team. When put in a leadership position, I flourish. I am always ready to work hard and have fun while doing it, I am extremely coachable, and I am an excellent teammate.
I love volleyball as a sport because in my mind it is the perfect balance between a team and individual sport. Every touch, every pass, and every serve is your own and it is up to you to do your best, yet you are on a team that can support you and that you can contribute to. It is my dream to play volleyball in college, as I believe that playing a team sport in such a formative time of my life will help me to grow in character, as well as being hugely enjoyable.
