Going to Nationals at 14 was definitely an early game changer in my volleyball career, since it was the first step toward understanding what it takes to play at a competitive level. As a player of front row my coaches have told me I would have to make up for my lack of height through my vertical. Nothing would be possible without the constant effort of working out before school started, and it paid off when I played on varsity as a sophomore.
At San Mateo High School I have played middle, opposite, and outside, although middle is my primary position. Playing for Academy 16 Gold this season, being on court is not the only skill I have adapted to. As a leader I have learned that bringing the spirit up within the teammates is the best way to ensure that they will have a greater bond and a bigger chance of winning. By cheering on the sidelines I make a positive impact on everyone because I love the game and support my team in any way I can.
I would love to play in college and bring my energy, time, and skills to make a similar impact that I’ve been making on my teams since sixth grade.
For my academic goals, I take an interest in pursuing chemistry and biology since they are one of my stronger subjects, as well as taking an interest in math. Art is another hobby of mine, and would like to keep an open mind to its future opportunities.
