Hello. Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Josephine Woldemar and my passion is playing volleyball. I have been playing volleyball since I was eleven years old for my school and club volleyball teams. Currently, I am entering my senior year and have played as the libero on the varsity volleyball team at Ukiah High School in Mendocino County, California. I also play libero and defensive specialist at Absolute Volleyball Club in Marin County.
Despite the almost two hour drive, I love playing at a more competitive level at Absolute and it has been an amazing experience. I believe that my passion, dedication, and commitment helps me to be not only a better volleyball player but a stronger person overall. I love volleyball because it has taught me so many personal skills about being a stronger and better person. These include but are not limited to knowing how to persevere through adversity, knowing how to work closely with a team to achieve a common goal, and knowing how to be accountable, organized, and plan for any kind of action. I also love getting to know my teammates from diverse backgrounds and just having fun and laughing with them.
My hometown of Ukiah is in a rural community. I live in the redwoods on 160 acres of property. Some of the things that I enjoy doing when I am not playing volleyball or studying, is hiking, exploring, riding four-wheelers, mountain biking, cooking and archery. I also am creative. I like to create movies and video games. When not playing volleyball, some of my other high school activities have included, participating in my high school journalism class as the director/editor/producer of our daily news updates and in a robotics group. Last summer, I interned at a local computer company where I learned to fix various computers and phones. This summer, I was lifeguard certified and was a lifeguard at our community pool. Growing up, I attended a small Catholic elementary and junior high school and was influenced to go out and help the community, so I also have a passion to help others and make a difference in our world.
When I become a college student, I would really like to play volleyball at a school that is competitive, will help me reach my career goals, and support me to be a better person. I am interested in pursuing a career in either film production, computer programming and/or security. Overall, I believe in being a positive person, working hard, and being grateful for all of life’s possibilities. I enjoy being part of my volleyball teams and keeping the mood positive and fun. I have drive and intensity and am always eager to develop new skills in the sport. I look forward to meeting you and discussing how I can be a great addition to your team.
