Personal Statement

Hi Coaches! I am a High School Senior in Estes Park, Colorado, a small town at the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. I first became interested in volleyball when I was in 6th grade, but my school had no program for kids my age. So, I became the Team Manager for our 8th grade team so I could learn about the sport.  I LOVED it!  I went on to play my 7th and 8th grade seasons and was captain of my team. I wanted to pursue volleyball more seriously, so I began playing club volleyball.  My first season was with YOSA and although it was a great starter program, I quickly realized that I wanted something more competitive. I spent a summer taking every camp and clinic at every local club and determined that I wanted to play for NORCO Volleyball, the top club in my region.  I tried out and made a White team (3rd team). That year and the following summer, I worked very hard to learn all I could about the sport and improve my skills. After lessons and extra gym time, I tried out last summer and made a National Blue team which was my goal (2nd team). In the 2018 season, I switched clubs as I received an offer to play 15-1 from Alpine Volleyball Academy. I enjoyed the national travel and the JO and AAU qualifying tournaments. Last club season I've switched to a club closer to my home, and I'm playing up on a 17s team. This year I'm proud to say that I'm playing Colorado NorthStars 18 Black.  I'm dedicated to improving my skills and court play every day.  My parents have made a big commitment as well, since we live in a small mountain town, all of my club volleyball is more than an hour drive each way.  They drive me to practice, clinics, private lessons, and are very supportive of my goals. I know what it takes to work hard to achieve my goals, and I'm prepared and excited to do that for you! I'd love to hear from you!  Thanks for taking the time to read my profile.
