My name is Taylor Boeyink and I'm currently starting my 3rd year of club volleyball at The Diff Volleyball Club. I was first introduced to volleyball my freshman year when I had been a dedicated gymnast 4 years prior. After attending the first open gym of that season, I immediately fell in love with the sport. My athleticism was already developed for the extensive physical needs of volleyball because of my gymnastics training and conditioning. The high school coach at the time noticed this and immediately decided to recruit me for his club team, Colorado Volleyball Academy. I was so in love with the sport after my initial exposure that I decided to quit gymnastics and enter the world of club volleyball, and I can honestly say that is one of if not the best decisions I've ever made. I am now a junior at Stargate High School, and since my freshman year, my love and passion for the sport has only grown. I have never once questioned my dedication to the sport, and I knew the second I stepped onto the court that I would be wanting to play for as long as possible. My goal is to play competitively in college while also exploring a field of academics that I love, which as of right now is undecided. I am open to all colleges and am really looking for a school that can help me find my academic passion while supporting my athletic passion. I'm an AP and Honor student at my school with a GPA of 4.36 and ranked 6 of 84 in weighted GPA's and 1 of 84 in unweighted. My 4 years of extensive gymnastics training strengthened me not only physically, but mentally. The individual sport trains you to handle pressure in the best ways possible while teaching you to move on immediately and not to dwell on your mistakes. It was built me into a leader on and off of the court, as I was Team Captain both my freshman and this junior year. My sophomore year, I was awarded the Coach's Award for high school volleyball for my versatility on the court and ability to adapt to any situation as needed. This year, I was named the Offensive Player of the Year for my aggressive and smart plays while also remaining versatile and exhibiting quick reaction and thinking. I'm currently a 5'8" outside hitter with an approach touch of 9'6" as of July this year, and I have been training as an outside hitter for 2 years, beginning my last club season. I was initially a setter along with an all-around front row player (outside, middle, and right side), but after seeing my vertical and quick swing, my club coach last year, as I played up an age group to Ballistic 17's Blue, decided to move me to outside. I am open to playing various positions as I occasionally ran 6-2's with my high school setter, and I am also very capable of passing, playing all around for all years I've played volleyball. I also continue my physical training on my own time, as I have been participating in my school's Strength and Conditioning class. I can already see myself improving dramatically in strength since August this year, and I push myself harder and harder everyday to be the best that I can be. All in all, I am so in love with this sport and have felt a never-ending passion for it the second I stepped on the court. I would love to play at a school that both holds high standards of athletic competition along with academic reputation.
