Hello!
My name is Emma Shorten and I am a 6’0” setter/opposite (Class of 2021) from Weston, CT. I am on the National team for my club (CT Stars out of Ridgefield, CT) and I attend Wooster School, a private school in Danbury, CT. I have earned First Team All-League and League All-Star accolades as a Sophomore and Junior. I have very strong academic credentials, with a GPA of 4.0, without any weighting for several honors classes. I am very interested in playing volleyball at a college that is also very academically challenging!
I am a three-sport athlete, having been a varsity starter in each of Volleyball, Basketball, and Lacrosse since my Freshman year. I have learned how to juggle sports and school, all while maintaining great grades. I am also proud of my very strong work ethic, and I apply it to everything I do. I have had teachers and coaches pull me aside and tell me that they were amazed by how I push myself 100% in every sport regardless of my primary focus on volleyball. I have become deeply involved with my club team (both indoor and beach) and I have been able to excel at every challenge and competition level where I have had the opportunity to play.
I am looking for a college with a wonderful and welcoming community and an excellent academic reputation in liberal arts. I am very interested in Anthropology and Psychology studies and I plan to explore those more in college! I love to be challenged, and I am very persistent with my problem solving and hard work. I would love to have the opportunity to show you what I can do on the court and in the classroom.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
-Emma
