As a member of a military family and having to change geographic locations I've learned to adapt to new surroundings and overcome challenges. I became interested in volleyball in the 7th grade while attending Green Cove Junior High School. My mother encouraged me try out for volleyball and without ever participating in the sport, I made the Junior Varsity volleyball team. At that moment I wanted to see what else I could accomplish in the sport and how far it may take me. I've learned that when locked in and focused I am a dominant volleyball player, our team's mood towards the game changes and we are able to come together to achieve a common goal. I have high academic goals for high school, expecting only A's and B's and with hard work I've achieved honor roll every semester. I plan to excel academically in college as well, this is very important to both my parents and me. Attending high school as a freshman, I tried out for the JV Volleyball team at Fleming Island High School. After tryouts I saw that I had been cut and began doubting myself. That tragic moment motivated me to work harder. The following year, after I transferred to Clay High School and tried out for volleyball. That same year I made the Varsity team as a sophomore and was a starting player. Some characteristics that I have and feel will help me be a part of a successful college volleyball team are positive attitude, highly motivated, love of the sport and encouraging teammates to rise to every challenge that comes our way.
