My name is Shelby Goodwin and I am a Class of 2023, 5'11" starting OH/DS on my Club Volleyball team and active Beach Volleyball player. I started volleyball by accident at age 9 and have loved the sport since! Being part of a team has taught me about leadership, compromise, patience, determination, sacrifice, failure and so much more. I love the work and can’t wait to continue playing throughout college.
I have played equal roles as a hitter and a defensive specialist and can play anywhere the coaches need me. I am a very observant player- I love to play by strategy. One of the best parts of playing in college is the opportunity to instantly connect with like minded friends on the team. The second most exciting will be for my family to be there as I will be the first college graduate in my family in 60 years!
When it comes to choosing what school I would like to go to my options are very big. I mainly am looking at southern states (North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, etc.) but I am very open to going anywhere. I am open minded about colleges and hope to just find one where I can make an impact on the team. It doesn't matter about the size or location; if I can receive a great education and play volleyball I will be happy.
My top two choices for a major as of right now are either Science or Psychology. However, my major may change over the course of the rest of my high school career. Currently, my interests are in Art, Math and Sciences.
