I love volleyball. I remember watching it during the London Olympics and thinking “that’s what I want to do!”. I started playing then and have loved it since I first stepped foot on a court. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t rough days or times when balancing school, athletics and life doesn’t seem overwhelming but it’s because of volleyball and the discipline I’ve learned balancing both Club and Varsity that allows me to keep loving it. Since stepping foot on the court when I was 10, I’ve only improved day by day and year by year. Coaches have trained me in different positions, I’m the secret weapon that can play all the way around. My approach vertical, agility and timing make me a surprise OH at 5’3” and I jump high enough to block just about anything but I started as a DS/Libero and that’s where I truly excel – I consistently produce the impossible plays!
I’m a naturally reserved person but when I step onto the court I’m a leader, a cheerleader, a mentor, a fierce competitor and supportive teammate - all of those things have become key parts of my personality and I bring confidence and leadership with me in everything I do now. Something that I’ve learned this past club season is that people follow me, I believe that this is because I’m a doer, I never just talk and give unsolicited advice, I give positive suggestions when warranted and I celebrate with my teammates when they’re successful!
Academics are extremely important to me and volleyball makes me an excellent student because it has given me the confidence to advocate for myself, ask for help when I need it, and manage Honors & AP classes, projects and every day life successfully. I’m a planner!
Focus, dedication, and boldness are qualities that define me, everything that I do as a student athlete and person is a product of those qualities. Not playingvolleyball in college would feel like I was giving up a huge part of who I’m proud to be!
I’m the player that every coach wants! I don’t screw around, I want to win which means that I take coaching direction and constructive feedback well, I work until I get it right and I never walk when shagging!
I have a ridiculous work ethic (first on and last off) and I study, and implement, the strategy of the game whether through watching competitors at tournaments or game film.
Strategy is key and due to my height it’s even more important; whether I’m playing outside hitter and usingthe approach I’ve developed to maximize my 8’10” approach vertical, covering the court to be in the right place at the right time to dig up hits and having an aggressive, precise serve receive.
Being a solid player requires not just game skills but strength, agility, and stamina which means more than just practice- mental acuity, nutrition and additional workouts (sports) are necessary to be the best volleyball player possible and I make sure that I’m in the best condition to excel for my team. I motivate my teammates to play at their best whether we’re up or down and I keep my energy and enthusiasm up to feed the team positivity!
I put 100% into everything I do – volleyball, school and life – I have a positive outlook and it shines through and is catching – I will raise the level of any team I play for and am definitely looking for a scholarship to allow me to focus on being the best student athlete possible.
I’m open to any geographic location if it’s the right fitwith coach, team, academics.
I’m looking for a coach who will push me and expect my best, who inspires his/her players as athletes, students and people. I’d like a coach who will be a mentor on and off the court.
I intend to be a key player and being engaged in the overall game strategy is critical for me. I want to see the big picture and need a coach that doesn’t expect players to operate in a vacuum.
I’m looking for upper classmen that mentor and support new team members and an overall supportive/upbeat team that wants to win and plays to win but doesn’t fall apart and lose energy and focus if we’re down. I want to be a part of a team that pushesme and teaches me new things, but also respects me as a player. I will earn it.
As a student athlete, it’s going to be the coach, the team dynamic and the athletic program that supportsacademic success. I’m looking for a support system that’s as invested in my academic and athletic success as I am in being the posterchild of success for them!
I know that there’s a great college match for me and I’m excited to find that college and team!
