Kristin Moniz '18 Recruiting Profile

As a student-athlete, I believe in the power of hard work and determination. The value of knowledge incorporated with a hard work ethic is indispensable. This can be seen at work in my everyday life when I listen attentively in class, frequently ask questions, and make sure I understand the lesson of that day. On the court, I can be observed laying out my very best by sacrificing my body and encouraging my teammates to do the same. They always come first, and I attempt to better myself so I can serve the team every time I step on the court.

This season, I am playing on Quicksets VBC 18s, which will be my 7th year playing club volleyball since I was 11 years old. I started my athletic career when I was 8 years old at the Police Activity League (PAL) in my community. My love for volleyball grew when our small PAL team from Kaneohe started to win championships.

It is indisputable that I am extremely passionate when it comes to sports. I enjoy the competition, and also the fun that is present when my team works together. My strongest belief when it comes to sports is that the best team out there is the one who reaches synergy. I witnessed this amazing quality in my 2015 Junior Varsity high school season when we were named Conference Champions. We weren't the tallest team, (I was the tallest, at 5'4"), but we worked together so well that we accomplished the impossible.

I dedicate hours of time every week to train and improve myself. Any day that there isn't volleyball practice, I participate in strength and conditioning workouts with my father and go to the District Park to practice one on one with a coach. Besides being an Outside Hitter, I have been used at starting Setter, Opposite Hitter, and Libero on each of my previous club teams. I wish to attend a college that combines great academics with an opportunity to play at a high level in a competitive collegiate program.  I hope I can make a difference to the team on and off the court. Thank you very much for taking the time to learn about me!
