Hello! I'm Ashley, and when starting volleyball I was shy and scared of how people would judge me for my mistakes but as I grew to love the sport I became more confident in myself and my abilities as a volleyball player. I started in 6th grade and worked extremely hard during the summer to get better every day so then when I was a freshman I could be in varsity. I went to every summer conditioning day and team bonding exercise that the coaches provided before the season. I would always train with my parents everyday and get as much reps as a I could which includes serve receive, digs, serving and etc. The season arrived and I not only made varsity, but I was the libero for the team. My dedication and determination to improve myself will continue as I start to set new collegiate goals throughout my high school career.
As a girl who did gymnastics, you are very competitive and always want to succeed. Doing gymnastics since I was 5 was an experience doing a competitive sport before volleyball. It has allowed me the chance to see "work hard, play hard" philosophy, making me, by nature, driven to succeed in whatever I put my mind to.
Outside of sports, I work hard academically. I understand what it means to have a well rounded education and my goal is to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout high school. Never once have my parents pressured me to get straight A's, in fact they would be okay with C's, but overtime I developed a winning mindset that pressured me to do the best that I can in school. In college, I plan to continue with my high grade status. In school, when assigned group projects, nine times out of ten I am the "group leader." I've also had experience in coaching youth volleyball sports, which also honed my leadership skills.
I get tons of support from my friends, parents, and coaches, but at the end of the day I put the pressure on myself to push for my highest goals and set an example for other young volleyball players like myself. With dedication, resiliency, and leadership capabilities, I hope to contribute my skills to any team. Thank you!
