My name is Annmarie Lawrence. I started playing volleyball in the third grade. At the first volleyball camp that I went to in third grade, I immediately fell in love with the game. I loved the excitement of having a really long rally and really fighting to keep the ball alive. Since then, I have been playing Club and school volleyball. Something that you should know about me is that I live on the South Side of Chicago. Right now, I am a junior at Lindblom Math and Science Academy. So far this year, one of my biggest and proudest accomplishments is that my team went undefeated in conference and won the Red South Conference Championship. This means that we will be moving up to the Gold Division (top division). This is a proud moment for us because we have never been in the Gold Division. Although it will be challenging and we might not always be successful, I see this as a way for me to get ready for college in terms of how intense and fast-paced the game is. Another huge accomplishment that I got this season was the all tournament at the MLK Under The Dome Tournament. To be chosen from hundreds of other players further proves how my hard work and dedication pays off when I step on the court. Last year as a sophmore, I got the news that I was selected on the first team for the red conference ( 1 conference below gold). I was very proud of this award because even though I was the youngest person to have my name submitted, this proves that no matter what age or grade I am in, I can still work as hard and even harder than the upperclassmen. I am a good candidate for your team because I am a hard worker and I show a lot of dedication to a team that I am on. What makes me different from other recruits is that I bring a lot of energy and excitement to the team. I love to encourage my teammates to keep working hard and trying their best. I also believe that you always need to go into something with the right mindset. If you have a negative viewpoint on something from the start you will really have a hard time overcoming your challenges. I stand out academically because all through grammar and high school, I have kept my GPA at or above a 3.0 . Academically, I have been able to balance my school work, school volleyball, club volleyball, and basketball. I always put my academics first and I still work hard to improve my game each and everyday. Lastly, I stand out athletically because I feel like I am an experienced player. I have a really strong and powerful hit/downswing. I have been to various camps and training sessions across the US and I know that they have all really helped me develop my skills. During the spring and summer, I attend training sessions at Velocity for speed, agility, and vertical jump. My dream has always been to play volleyball and at the college level . I will work hard and do whatever it takes to get to this level. In college, I want to major in Biology in the hopes of becoming a sports physical therapist.
