My name is Joslyn Brown. I’m 14, and I am in 8th grade. I love volleyball! I know you have heard this numerous times, but I genuinely love this sport! I tried basketball, soccer, and even swim teams, but nothing compared to the feeling volleyball gave me. I continued to play other sports, but none of them captured my heart like volleyball did. I want to play all the time. I will be a first-generation college student in my family, so I decided why not play the sport I love while I am studying for my career?
Having the passion to play all of the time is one thing, but I give my best effort not only during every point but also as I reflect on my performance. I am self-aware and reflect every day, sometimes even too much. I am a student of the game and want to learn as much technique and strategy as I can because it will enhance my natural athletic ability. I am hardworking, driven, competitive, and obviously very passionate. One of the best things about me is my kindness. I define "team player" and will always encourage other girls, even if we are not friends off the court. Not only do I give 110%, but I also contribute positively to the team chemistry.
I am very resilient both on the court and off. I was diagnosed at 12 with ADHD and dyslexia. Because of my tenacity, I maintain an A/B average. Even though I am young, I am drawn to the medical field. I see myself working as a nurse.
