1) Goals:My first goal is to find a good college that not only fits me, but one that challenges me and pushes me to my limits. I want to go to a school that will best help me decide what I want to do in the future; and to see what I can do with the gifts that God has given me. My second goal, is to be able to represent my school by being a part of its volleyball program.(and possibly other areas-I run track and have played the violin since I was 3). I plan to make the most of the new experience and opportunities that are ahead of me; to try my very best in the classroom and on the court. I look forward to pushing myself to see what I can do, and to show my appreciation to my parents for all their support including time and financial sacrifices they have made for privates, for club, and school volleyball by acheiving excellence on the court and in the classroom. I want to carry on a family tradition of excellence in sports and academics, but I am excited about being able to do something I love-volleyball!
2) Volleyball is the sport I love to watch and play! It's very fast paced, and something is always happening. It is a true team sport. For eight out of my life, I saw myself becoming a soccer player ;but that changed in the blink of an eye. I started to question my "dream" in seventh grade, when I played my first season of club volleyball. Soccer was a big part of my life; I was on one of the top clubs in the country and starting, but after one junior high season of volleyball it all changed. I fell in love with volleyball! Although soccer is definitely a team sport, I found volleyball to be the ultimate team sport. You are always a part of the play, and players have to be in tune with each other constantly, in volleyball. I realized though I liked aspects of the game of soccer, I loved everything about volleyball. . It involves endurance, mental toughness, and communication. I am fortunate to be able to bring to volleyball the things I learned (and gained) from years of soccer to my volleyball play, including aggressiveness, endurance, and a certain fearlessness. I also love being a leader on the court. My teammates count on me to have the same positive attitude through the good times and bad. They count on me to bring energy to the court and assurance that "we can do it." I do my best not to let them down.
3) If someone was to observe me on a normal day, they would say that I was smiling about 90-95% of the time. I like to have an upbeat attitude, and to always seem approachable. I try to look for the best out of any situation and/or person. I am compassionate, and laid back, but I know when I need to get my act together and work. My favorite things about myself are my discipline and work ethic; due in part to my family, who are role models for me.. I am also the toughest critic of myself. I have very high expectations for myself. I need to be giving 110% in everything that I do, otherwise I'm letting people (and myself) down because they know that's not who I am. I don't like to lose, and I definitely don't like to give up. I do not give up in sports when it gets tough, and I do not give up with my school work either IF it gets challenging. I may not also shine out as "the best," but I always stand out as the "hardest working" with the best attitude.
