I am extremely passionate about volleyball not only for my self asperations to win a national title/play in college but also because I want to be someone that my teammates can look to during crucial parts of a match and not let them down. I am relatively new to the sport of volleyball, at least compared to my teammates, as I have been playing full season club for two years now. I played soccer before which did contribute to my athletic ability but did not necessarily correlate to vertical/aerobic skills necessary to be a great player. As a primary outside on one of the top teams at Sports Performance (16s), I realize I may not be the most intimidating hitter standing at 5'8'', but for the past two years I have taken close to every single opportunity I could have to become better whether that's going to the gym early Saturday mornings or pushing myself past comfortability to get extra reps and cheering/communicating with my teammates even when I am stressed or tired. I never am satisfied with my accomplishments even if I have exceeded my expectations whether that be athletics or academics. Because sophomore year is such a crucial part of an athletes career as it is the year before a player can get recruiting, I would love to dedicate 100% of my time just putting in more work to get better at volleyball. My parents were not college athletes so they have always focused on my academics rather than athletics which pushed me to take all honors/AP courses this year. Juggling advanced classes while trying to put in as much volleyball practice I can hasn't made me less passionate about getting better, but rather taught me to time manage and that pushing myself past what I thought I could do motivates me to expand expectations for myself.
