Kayla Velez '21 Recruiting Profile

My first time receiving a gold medal with my club team at the Maryland Juniors Tournament has been the highlight of my volleyball career so far. It proved to me that I have the grit and the mentality you need to succeed in volleyball. I became interested in volleyball 5 years ago trying out for my middle school team. I knew I was falling in love with the sport when my competitive spirit and constant will to improve my skills was prevalent. What I've learned about myself through volleyball is that I work to my best ability no matter how tired or defeated I feel, and that I will always prevail through  the frustration and encourage my teammates through any circumstance. I'm looking for a program that provides me with the resources to be a strong student-athlete dealing with my academics and my performance on the court. I believe that I am capable to compete at the college level due to my diligence and leadership experience to make a positive impact on your association. I strongly believe I possess the skills to be on your team!
