Goals and Aspirations:
Last club season, I had a lot of time to think about my collegiate goals as I missed weeks from the season due to a concussion and a broken and fractured finger. Being withdrawn from the sport opened my eyes to life without volleyball and it made me realize how much I wanted volleyball to be in my life. I promised myself that I would work hard to continue playing the sport I love at the collegiate level and to improve on the technical and cognitive aspects of the game to become a more well-rounded player. To achieve this goal over the summer I lifted weights at my local gym to improve my vertical leap, attended camps, and competed in outdoor tournaments.
Good Candidate:
What makes me a good candidate is that I am dedicated because I work hard to achieve my goals and I actively listen to constructive criticism so I can implement the feedback into the game. I am also very adaptable as of last club season when our right side and middle got hurt I played both position's and later my coach complimented me on my efforts and willingness to help the team. When I am not on the court I am working on balancing my academics with challenging AP and honors classes.
Different from Other Recruits:
I am different from other recruits because of my intense spirit for the game as I am often cheering on my team as well as my experience in outdoor tournaments and my involvement in the community. I have entered in many outdoor tournaments and been successful with wins in Ocean city, Rehoboth, Alexandria and Laurel which has grown not only my passion for the game but my knowledge as well. I not only am learning about the importance of a placed hit but the accuracy of a set, the power of an aggressive serve and the necessity of a perfect pass after a long day in the hot sun. What also sets me apart is my activity in the community. My school requires 75 Student Service Learning Hours but my goal is to reach the 260 hours of community work. So far I have helped out at my local elementary school, pool, summer camp, my high schools annual book sale and a Wider Circle which is an organization that gives donations to those in need and I have loved every minute of it.
