I danced for ten years before switching to volleyball. I joined because I wanted to feel more connected to my high school and because it looked like fun. It became pretty obvious to me, very quickly, that volleyball had everything that I felt was missing in dance. It felt less rigid, more powerful, and excitingly competitive. When I think of my future I don’t see one without volleyball. I was made to play this sport.
I have never felt more at home or comfortable than when I am at practice and on the court. Volleyball matches perfectly with my personality; it has given me an outlet to be myself, absolutely happy and having fun while simultaneously allowing me to be focused and competitive. Volleyball has provided me with a drive to continually improve in both my athletic ability and in self awareness. It is refreshing to know confidently that I will always be a part of this truly amazing community and always belong on a court.
