I am very interested in playing volleyball in college. I primarily spend my time playing volleyball, for school and Attack National Volleyball Club, while also participating in percussion in concert and marching band, and focusing on my education. I am also part of the journalism program and report primarily on sporting events for the school newspaper.
I’ve played club volleyball for seven years so far and have played on all the school teams. I love playing volleyball because you get this incredible adrenaline that pushes you to do your best, making you leave everything on the court. It also creates an environment of caring people who push you to be your best.
I feel like volleyball has trained me to be a great athlete, but also helped me to be a better person. I’ve learned to always leave my 100 percent on the floor, and also rely on my teammates to help our team push through the win. There is no winning volleyball if you do it as an individual; you have to believe in your team. It helped me also push myself in my academics, wanting to be the best student athlete that I can be. I have taken, and continue to take, a schedule of honors and advanced placement classes. I have a 3.7 overall GPA.
I want to play volleyball in college, because I can’t imagine stopping, it's such a part of who I am. I love this sport and want to devote all my time to training and becoming better. I love pushing myself to excel, and I don’t think I could do that as well without learning what I have being part of volleyball. I’ve spent so much time on this sport, and I can’t imagine spending my time any other way.
I would like to attend a larger four-year college to study journalism or English literature, where I can play volleyball as well. I would like to focus on English, because it’s one of my biggest strengths and I love to write.
