Where I’m from it’s unlikely to see women who look like me playing volleyball for the Big10 or reputable colleges. My goal is to one day, further my career and play for college. I want to be that person, kids in my community can look up to and feel they too can dream and make it come true.
I have been competitively training for volleyball since age 11. My routine for the last 5 years consisted of daily volleyball homework with technical skills and or conditioning, club practices twice a week and training one to two times a week. Currently, I am a Libero for club and all around for high school. I have a 4.0 GPA and a straight A student since Freshman year. In club, I play an age level up and have been for the past three years. For high school, I lettered, earned MVP and All Conference Award for all of 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. I was also captain for my Sophomore, Junior and Senior year. In June 2020, I rostered with USA Volleyball National Girls Y2 team, but due to the pandemic, all events were cancelled.
What makes me different is that I know due to my smaller frame, I have to work twice as hard and I’m willing to do so without thinking twice. My motto is, be humble and remember where you came from.
