Sharayah’s Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Sharayah Seymour, and I am a senior at Cassville High School. I finished my seventh year of club volleyball which included one year with the Springfield Stars in Springfield, MO, four years at Ozark Juniors in Fayetteville, AR, one year with Tamales in Springfield, MO, and finishing my last two years with Thr33s in Springfield, MO. I have had the opportunity to play middle, outside, and right-side hitter on my club teams, all on the 1’s teams. I have played in many large tournaments. During my Freshmen year, I earned a starting position on my high school varsity squad, playing full rotation as middle hitter and setter. Even though I never played setter for my club teams, my high school coach asked me to fill that role, and I rose to the challenge. As a Freshman, I earned my varsity letter, was selected All-Big 8 Conference Team Honorable Mention, was chosen to Ozark Sports Zone’s All-Freshman Team, and earned Academic All-State. As a Sophomore, I earned All-Big 8 Conference first team, All-District 2nd team, Academic All-State, and Rotary MVP for the season. In my Junior year I earned All-Big 8 Conference first team, All-District 1st team, All-State 1st team, Academic All-State, and Rotary MVP for the season. As a Senior, I earned All-Big 8 Conference first team as well as Co-Player of the year, All-District 1st team, All-State 1st team, as well as breaking several school records for kills per season, career kill record, and career dig record.
I have been around sports all of my life and started playing softball and basketball at 5. I approach the game of volleyball the same way I do life, with respect and dedication. I firmly believe that anything worth doing is worth doing right, so I work hard at getting better each time I practice and play.
I look forward to my college education and plan to pursue a degree in biology or mathematics. I have grown up outdoors, enjoying activities like hiking, camping, and fishing with my family. My family instilled in me a love of the outdoors and wildlife. I want to make sure that the environment is protected so my kids can one day enjoy the outdoors just as I do.
