My name is Gretel Robbins. I am a Right-Side and Defensive Specialist at The Pembroke Hill School. My team had a very successful season this past year placing third at the Missouri State Championships. I was also named to the 2nd Team All-District. This season, I was very excited to better my back row abilities and play 6 rotations. I hope to continue to play defense for my club team and better myself. Outside of Volleyball, I enjoy playing lacrosse, reading, drinking coffee, and enjoying my friends. In School, I enjoy pushing myself. I am currently enrolled in Spanish 4 Accelerated, Chemistry Accelerated, and Developmental Psychology. My favorite class is English as I love to write and discuss literature.
This upcoming club season, I am playing for PVA 16 ELITE (16-1). I am excited to start working with my new teammates towards a successful season. I love to hype my teammates up when they make a great play, whether I am on the court or not, and am excited to bring a high level of energy to this new setting.
I started my volleyball career late (age group 14) and was told that I would be behind other players. I took this information as a form of drive to get better. That first year, I was behind. But, I continued to put the work in and better myself with off-court training, privates, and practice daily. I worked that whole summer to get better and build up my volleyball level. I credit a large amount of my growth to that time and look back at it as a great example of the drive and determination that I continue to use today. I am an extremely disciplined person and strive to get better every practice. One of my biggest beliefs is that it is very important to not only listen to and respect your coaches, but to also utilize their suggestions to improve your abilities and volleyball iq. I am able to make quick adjustments and identify what I need to change in order to improve. I look to be a part of a program that possesses a competitive, fun, and disciplined atmosphere and is filled with players who are focused on growth and teamwork.
