Aly Gurtiza '21 Recruiting Profile

The one thing you will know about me is that I am very passionate about volleyball. I have been playing competitively since I was 10 years old, it is my true passion. My desire is to pursue volleyball at a high level in college. Most importantly, I am highly involved in my academics. Although volleyball is my passion, I know my academics and personal image are important for future endeavors as well. I am looking to attend a college that will provide both.

I played all around for 2 years and then moved to libero for 3 years, all with Invasion. Currently I am a Libero for Dynasty 18 black. I take on many responsibilities on and off the court. Off the court I keep up with my grades and I enjoy hanging out with my friends and going to school sporting events. I also volunteered to help coach a younger team in volleyball, and I have more coaching plans in the future. On the court I support my teammates, and I always give 100%, no matter what. I am continuously working to improve upon my skills and I can not wait to see how far I can progress up and through college. I am dedicated, hard working, a team player and I have great commitment to my team and volleyball, in general. 

On the court I am very consistent, and even tempered. I perform well under situations with an extreme amount of pressure. I am very competitive and always want to win at everything not just on the court.  I am very mentally tough and I am able to self coach. When I make a mistake, I want the next ball to come to me so I can prove what I can do.  When my teammates make a mistake, I am there it cheer them on to the next point and celebrate those they get as well. I truly love this sport and my teammates and coaches, every person adds to the journey.

I am very interested in academics, however, I am not certain what I want to major in during college at this time. I really enjoy math and psycology and excel in my high school advanced courses. I can not wait to see what the future holds.
