Hi I'm Clara Evert, I completed my freshman year at Gothenburg High School in Nebraska. I have played volleyball since third grade, and would love to continue playing through college. My dream has been to play Divison 1 since I was in second grade. I have played every position on the court, but in my 2020 I played six rotations as an outside hitter my freshman year on varsity.
When I was thirteen, I played up with the fourteens team from Gothenburg. We went to President's Day in Omaha, and got fifth out of 64 teams. We also played in several tournaments across Nebraska in the 2019 Club Season.
In my 2020 Club Season, I played on two teams. My main team was the 16's but also played with the 14's. On the 16's teams, I played setter and outside. Being on the 16's team taught me how to be a leader even when I was the youngest on the team. My leadership skills changed drastically after playing with them.
In my freshman year, 2020 High School volleyball season, I played as an outside for six rotations. My team lost at Districts. Throughout the season, I led the team with the most kills and was second on the team with digs(behind the libero). I also made First Team Southwest Conference. Currently, I am playing for NE Gold(15s) out of Kearney, NE, while still playing for the Gothenburg Club Team(17s).
Even when we don't have practice, I still play. Everyday I get some sort of workout in and continue to improve my volleyball skills. I lift weights everyday, and condition for sports. I’m always on the go, and I’m always very excited to have the opportunity to get better.
Other than volleyball, I play basketball in the winter for my school, and I also play on team called CNBA in the summer. In the spring I’m always very busy with playing club volleyball, track, and starting to practice for basketball. During summer, I participate in the weight lifting program at Gothenburg High School. I lift about 5 days a week during summer. I also play traveling basketball and have practice for both my volleyball and basketball school teams.
Besides working hard on the court, my work ethic doesn't change when I'm in the classroom. I have had all A's and plan to maintain my grades throughout high school.
Also, I'm interested in being a Physical Therapist. My dream is to fulfill both of my passions for helping and encouraging people to always be a better version of their self. Both volleyball and Physical Therapy will add to my dreams.
All in all, my hard work on and off the court will never change. My heart for the game is something nobody else has. I will never give up, will always push myself, stay positive, and no matter what bring a ton of energy to the court.
