I am excited about pursuing the option to play college volleyball in the near future. In general, I would describe myself as a highly motivated and hard working young woman who prides myself on making smart decisions both on and off the court. I think my coaches would describe me as an athlete who is coachable and eager to learn and improve all the time. My teammates view me as a leader on the court as evidenced by being voted a team Captain for both volleyball and basketball as a junior in 20-21.
Although I've been playing volleyball for 9 years, it wasn't until the end of my sophomore season that I decided continuing to play after High School was something I really wanted to achieve. My team has improved from 5-24 my freshman year, to 14-16 my sophomore year, and finished my junior year at 17-11 earning us a 9th place finish in D-1 and an invite to the NE Top 10 volleyball tournament. Starting as a freshman setter on a Varsity team full of upperclassmen intimidated me at first, but then fueled me to become a stronger athlete, a smarter and more skilled setter, and a leader both on and off the court. It taught me how important it was to have the trust of both your teammates and your coaches.
I've invested a lot of time into the weight room, attended multiple camps to improve my skill level and volleyball IQ, and at the end of my sophomore high school season, I began playing regional club volleyball to get more court time while still maintaining a 3-sport athlete status in high school. I understand the value in competing at a higher level in order to solidify my mental toughness and help lead and contribute to any team I play on. Playing on my high school team as well as my club experience, has helped me learn which players, in each rotation, I need to get the ball to in order to score the points to win.
I would like to come out of college with a degree in Occupational Therapy. I have a younger brother with special needs who inspired me to go this route. I am looking for a school that will not only challenge me athletically, but academically as well.
