Hello Coaches,
My name is Avery VanHoogen. I am a 5'8'', primary position is outside and I am in the class of 2027.
I started volleyball when I was in fifth grade when I joined my middle school team. I fell in love with the sport and kept playing and in 8th grade my goal was to make the school varsity team, which I did. This is my forth year of club volleyball. My first year of club volleyball I did an in-house team, but these past three years I have been competitively playing on a travel club team. Since I was three years old I have played on various sports teams, including: dance, soccer, gymnastics, t-ball, and competitive year-round swim.
My goal for my volleyball career is to be able to play on the college level, I am a well rounded volleyball player, in the past four years I have played defense specialist, outside, and middle for my club team, and libero and outside for my school team. I plan on potentially start focusing on more defense positions in the future. This current 24-25 club season I am a middle and setter.
Along with athletics, academics are important to me and I do my best to keep my grades as high as I can. I also have many community service hours helping my elderly neighbors, the town recreation department and helping with clinics for my volleyball club. I would like to major in either nutrition, dental hygiene, or athletic training. My overall goal is to continue playing the sport I love through college. And maybe even one day coach my own children.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
