My name is Lyra Hall and I'll be going into my Junior year of high school this September. I take school seriously and I'm in an accelerated program and take honors and AP courses.
When I was younger, I tried many sports. I rode horseback for 9 years. I was a swimmer for 3 years. I played softball through my freshman year in high school until I gave it up to focus on volleyball. I started playing volleyball in eighth grade and even though I started later than some of the girls around me, my love for the sport has pushed me above and beyond the limits of where I thought I could be.
There are two main things I try to accomplish in my volleyball career. First, comradery is extremely important to me. On the court and in my life, I try to be a leader and role model to my peers. There is nothing that makes me happier than being on a team where we're all really close and support each other both when we're winning and losing. Second, I want to learn and improve every time I step on the court. I actively look for advice and feedback from my coaches and teammates and I take pride in looking back at old videos and seeing how far I have come. I think my two biggest assets are my high volleyball IQ and my positive mindset.
Volleyball is my passion but above everything else, I want to go to a college that has a great psychology program. It's my dream to become a psychiatrist - that's where I see myself in 20 years. I want to give back to my community and be able to see people going through hard times make positive strides in their lives.
