My name is Jessica Ader and I am a Senior at Monroe Woodbury High School as well as the starting outside hitter and Captain of the Varsity Volleyball team. Volleyball is one of the many things that I love and I am constantly trying to improve my skills. However, I am also involved in other extra curricular activities. I participate in my school's Interact Club where we volunteer throughout the community at non profit fundraisers. I also volunteer at Central Valley Elementary assisting the art teacher every week as well as help my mother with the Highland Mills Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary or my Dad at the fire department whenever I can.
I started playing volleyball in 4th grade. I enrolled in a summer enrichment program at Monroe Woodbury Middle School and played for a couple of weeks. I hadn't yet devoted 100% of my time to the sport because I was still actively involved in the equestrian field. Once in middle school I made the modified team. That was it! I was hooked! Volleyball was the sport for me.
I chose to involve volleyball in every aspect of my life. I even hosted my own tournament raising money for pediatric cancer after losing one of my friends to this horrible disease. That being said I have not let my grades falter while continuing to play club volleyball for the Club Eclipse Elite team after the school season as well as assisting the coach of the 15U team. I hope to continue achieving high honors in high school and graduate top of my class. I strive to always do my best and not just skate by. Contributing to school community is important and I hope to do so by not only being a member of the National Honor Society but our school's NHS secretary. I wish to attend college for art history or global history while still playing volleyball and continuing to excel academically.
Family is very important to me and I am lucky to have many wonderful people in my life that support me both in sports and academics. They have taught me to have confidence in myself and trust in others. Both attributes I find necessary on the court. I am a team player and believe I am both confident and a leader on the court. I have also been told that I am extremely coachable and my love for the game shows.
I love the rush of the game. I never back down from a challenge and always try to seize the moment.
