Emelia Cruz '26 Recruiting Profile

Grit, courage, heroism, and bravery. These are some of the aspects almost any athlete can learn. My name is Emelia Cruz and I have almost entirely experienced these lessons through the sport of volleyball. Volleyball, amongst other sports I have partaken in helped me to grow the idea that not everything is cookie cutter and perfect. That not only the sport, but life can bring challenges; yet only you determine how you face them. Learning the significance of working together through these obstacles has certainly structured me into the athlete I’ve become today. 

Everyday I face challenges emotionally, physically, and mentally. However, I find a new part of myself I had never known before by working through this. As I continue my academic journey further on into college I want to take the challenge with me. I never want to shy away from any difficulties thrown my way. I would like to attend a school that academically and athletically challenges me into being the best person and athlete I could possibly ever be. Whilst being surrounded by a loving community that constantly supports me. 

Overall, I believe that I bring a strong component to the table. I’m constantly remarked with the compliments of being intelligent and outright incredible; nevertheless, I use this to motivate me into achieving greatness in everything I do. Whether that’s from a simple task as to cleaning my room, or to competing in a high class game situation. 

Personally, I am enriched by the arts and the depths of music and words. I am ought to be found playing my guitar and songwriting, or annotating books in my free time. The world has so much to offer, and I soak up all of it thanking the generation I was born in. Along with that, I’m glad I have the component of volleyball along the side to have guided me through every small or big thing I do.
