Hello, I am a 2023 Setter from Putnam Valley High School and Oxygen Volleyball Club. When I moved to Putnam Valley in 2016 I was a quiet, shy kid who struggled to make substantial friendships and find her place. It wasn’t until I got involved in volleyball that I finally felt like I found my home and my people. As a member of the modified, JV, and Varsity volleyball teams I have learned to work as part of a team. Communication is essential to the sport, so I have found the power in my voice while also learning to put my ego aside and listen to feedback. I am a motivator on the court, keeping spirits high even when we are behind on the scoreboard. My coaches and team always know that I give 110% on the court and they can count on me. I feel these characteristics pushed my coach to select me as 1 of 2 JV players, the only Freshman, to move up and join the Varsity team in the Sectionals competition. It also resulted in me being the starting Setter when I joined the Varsity team my Sophomore year. And my teammates electing me as team captain for the 2021 season and why the coaches in Section 1 awarded me All-League Honors two years in a row.
I would love the opportunity to continue competing at a collegiate level. In addition to my commitment on the court, I also bring that same energy to my education. My weighted GPA, which included AP and honors courses, at the end of my Freshman year, was 90.69, and 94.86 Sophomore year. In my Junior year, I continued with my advanced level learning by adding several IB classes to my course load and completed the year with a weighted 91.61 GPA.
