One of the defining qualities of my character is passion. I have been passionate about volleyball since I was in the third grade, not only because I love the sport, but also because it has given me the opportunity to travel and build friendships. I have been fortunate to have a family who supports my passion. I play volleyball year-round, both in club and for my high school. This has enabled me to meet a unique group of people from the United States and Canada who share my love and passion for the sport.
Because I was the only ninth grader to make the varsity volleyball team at my high school, I had to earn trust and prove myself to the upperclassmen. That season I played every position. This forced me to grow as a volleyball player and a person. Determined to be the best at any position my coach trusted me with, I increased my focus on the game and on ways to balance academics and athletics. This is one of the most challenging aspects as a student athlete, and it was important to me to not disappoint my coach or my teammates. Balancing athletics with academics, family, and friends makes for a well-rounded person with an open mind. This will help me to be successful with my goals of keeping a high GPA and getting into a college for variety of biological and mathematical sciences.
