Growing up in California has given me a big chance to play volleyball. I became interested in the sport after becoming so surrounded by it on the coast in San Diego, so I decided to try it out myself. I began playing late in my freshman year at a volleyball club called Epic. There I got to learn the basics and play in small tournaments without the stress and intensity of playing in high school. However, I moved to North Carolina and began playing on the varsity team at Southwest Highschool in Onslow county. We are not a big team height wise and player-wise, and being a lower division we do not win very many games. At some points it feels like I am stuck on a smaller team and I can't be seen by the bigger coaches, but I realized through this season that no matter our losses we have many individuals that have skills that are great, even if they don't bring us to playoffs.
I plan to graduate highschool with a 3.5 (weighted or unweighted) GPA, and go on to study Marine Biology in college. I would love to continue being a student athlete in college as it helps me get to know people and learn about new things; sports skills or otherwise.
