I became interested in volleyball because as a young girl I was willing to try new things and challenge myself. Some things that I have learned about myself through playing volleyball would be, if you are dedicated to something with all of your heart as long as you reach for it as much as you possibly can all your hard work will eventually pay off Being dedicated to a sport is just like being dedicated to you academics and making sure that your grades are at the level they need to be It is very important because you are not only an athlete but a student athlete.
My academic goal for high school is to graduate with one of the highest GPA’s in my graduating class. My academic goals for college would have to be to stay dedicated towards my future career. I really would like to get the best grades I possibly can throughout my classes and ensure that I will be successful in my collegiate years. For me, getting the best possible grade ensures that I not only understand the topic but that I will know what I need to know when It is time to take the important tests and pass them so that I am able to pursue my dream of becoming a children’s nurse. When you think about anyone becoming successful it isn’t just about focusing on the good things that came out of the long journey. There are going to be obstacles and those obstacles are equally as important: they help frame you into the player you are today!
Some obstacles I have overcome to get to where I am today as an athlete is making sure that I am mentally prepared as much as I am physically. As an athlete every player has a different thought process and as an athlete I believe that it is very important that you are not too hard on yourself. Holding on to your mistakes and not allowing yourself to let them go really takes a toll on your game play. I remember one time when I was playing it was my turn to serve. The whole game was on me. I could feel the pressure on my back; my serve tipped over the net and I was almost back in my spot. But before I know it the ball was coming right for my face and there it was right down the line and slipped into the corner of the court. I remember the defeat I felt and how I couldn’t let it go, but eventually I had to learn how to because my teammates were counting on me to have a positive attitude the next time we played.
one unique characteristic about myself is I strongly believe that you win as a team and you lose as a team! I believe that sticking together is a great part of being a successful team. As an athlete building relationships with the girls on my team is very important to me. Knowing that you have a strong relationship with your teammates on the court not only affects your life on the court but outside of the court as well. Having best friends outside of volleyball means that you are never alone! You always have someone to hang out with someone you might be able to study with or go out on lunch dates with them or even plan trips with them.
Another unique characteristic about me is I always do my best to try to keep my team motivated even if we are down in the game. I am a strong believer that a positive attitude can help change the momentum in situations. It helps you come out of the hardest scenarios not only can positive attitudes help you when it is a game time but it is super important to try to use this attitude in the classroom. Without a positive attitude in the classroom you will not feel motivated to do the things you need to do and because of this it m if he caused you to fall behind; overall your attitude really affects everything you do!
