I am a 5’8” libero/setter from Upper Arlington, Ohio. When I began playing volleyball in kindergarten, I immediately developed a love for the sport. When I entered first grade, I began enrolling in volleyball clinics to develop my skills further. When I was finally old enough to play on a team, my dad was my first coach. He taught me how to play all six positions.
Volleyball has always been a sanctuary for me. I have always thought that representing my school by playing sports is the greatest thing any student can do. I love being able to contribute what I can to my team. From sixth through tenth grade I had to deal with a stalker and a bully. Volleyball had given me place where I was able to be myself without fear of being ridiculed. This person would constantly mock everything I would say or do which made me question everything about myself from how I act to the way I dress. I always felt like I was under a microscope. For the longest time, I was afraid to even leave my house. Practice gave me an escape from the torment of having to second guess every decision I ever had to make. The volleyball court provided a safe refuge from constant fear and shame. This is where I feel the most like myself and where I can comfortably be myself.
I am looking for a small campus in a college town, preferably in or around Ohio, where I can find a good balance between my sports/workouts and classes. Right now, I am planning on pursuing criminal justice. In high school, I am taking an International Baccalaureate Science class and an AP European History class. For my senior year, I am planning on applying for College Credit Plus and, if I get in, I will be taking over half my classes at Columbus State Community College. I plan on taking both the ACT and the SAT. My main goal for college would be to continue playing my favorite sport and receive a great, but challenging education at the same time.
