Ever since I was eight years old, volleyball has been my passion, and a major goal of mine has been to play volleyball at a higher, post-secondary level. Growing up, I watched my older sister play club volleyball, and when I was finally old enough to start my own club career I jumped at the opportunity. To me, volleyball has always allowed me express who I really am, a confident leader. I'm the type to lead others, not be lead, and playing volleyball has allowed me to do this. Not only has volleyball allowed to me display certain personal attributes, but it has also given me the chance to learn and grow as an athlete, a student and as a person. I've strengthened my focus and discipline, as I know that it takes hard work to achieve my goals. I've matured mentally, as I understand that volleyball is a mental game, and that being mentally tough is crucial. My academics are extremely important to me, and I credit my academic success to being an athlete. I believe that having big athletic goals has helped me to focus on whats really important, and academics really are the most important priority. By playing volleyball, I have learned how to manage my time and how to focus my energy to the right places. What separates me from the crowd is my undeniable dedication to the task at hand. When I have a specific focus, I work until the goal is achieved or the issue is resolved, without getting distracted. Overall, I'm dedicated to getting better, I believe that there are opportunities to learn all around me, when it comes to both athletics and academics. I believe that as an student athlete, I can learn something new from every coach and teacher that I meet.
