Hi I'm Nola Ma and I'm a 5'5 2026 outside/lib/ds. My collegiate aspirations are to play for a D1 school in the states or D2. I'm only in grade 9 but I strive to work hard and push myself as hard as I can to achieve these goals. On the court I try to be positive and keep the energy up and cheer up teammates if they get down. I always am open to new ideas and ways to do things and I just all around love volleyball and will play I whenever I can. Off court I try to focus on nutrition, rest and recovery. In the off season I am currently playing beach volleyball in a recreational league in Stratford and an elite beach program with Preds Beach. This past year I played a year up with Stratford Stinger Swarm 16U, and am continuing to Play 16U beach and 15U beach with two separate partners.
Academically I've always been I pretty good student always striving to be top of my class. This year semester 1 I had an average of about 87, and this semester before final exams and report card I have an average of 87, with 3/4 of my classes my marks are above 90. Last year I achieved honor roll with an average above an 80% the entire year.
Athletically before I played volleyball and had goals to go somewhere post-secondary I was an elite gymnast and did/do track and field. I think gymnastics gave me a very great foundation to all sports with the all around strength, skills and coordination it requires. I did gymnastics at Glendon gymnastics in Kitchener, Ontario. I would usually spend around 20-25 hours a week in the gym working hard and pushing my limits. After covid i decided to change things around and try volleyball and track and field. This decision changed my life. I started volleyball in 13U with the Stratford volleyball club making my first team and the following year continuing playing for the14U team. And around the same time I decided to try out track and field, I trained with the Stratford Sabrecats. That Summer of 2022 I competed in many track and field meets and had been selected for the Team Ontario Regional Program (TORP). During TORP I gained many skills and made many connections with coaches and players all across Ontario and i still talk to most of them. during the camp we also competed in the Ontario Summer Games (OSG's), which we competed in beach volleyball and indoor. I had also been selected to compete in the OSG's for track and field but had already committed to TORP. After track and field Ontario championships the city of Stratford nominated me with the 2021 and 2022 community recognition award in recognition of my achievements in track and field. Also with becoming an All-Ontarian 2021 and 202 as well for my achievements in track and field.
I believe my background of sports and athletics have set me up greatly to succeed in volleyball and I will continue to work hard to achieve my goals. Not only in volleyball but academically as well.
