Ever since I first touched a volleyball, I knew it was the sport for me. I have been playing for 5 years, along with numerous other sports such as swimming, hockey, softball and flag football. I always give 110% and push my teammates to do the same. I am someone who wants to be at the gym early and stays late for extra reps. As a setter, I pride myself on having a high volleyball IQ and trying to learn something from every situation. My dad was a setter for Team Canada, and he teaches me to not only make smart sets, but to be constantly trying to improve and push for perfection.
Academically, I push myself just as hard in the classroom as I do in the gym. I maintain a 4.0 GPA, and I am taking Advanced Placement English, math, and science this year. I believe that academics are just as important as sports, and I have acquired the necessary skills to manage both efficiently. I additionally am completing my grade 8 Royal Conservatory Piano and Theory.
I was introduced to high-performance sport in the summer of 2019, where I made Team Saskatchewan as an underaged setter. I thrived on the high-intensity environment and loved every second of it. I have continued to play with Team Saskatchewan in the summer, and plan to try out for the Canada Games team, even though I will be two years young. I recently also was selected to Volleyball Canada's National Excellence Program, a high-performance training program that selects 18 athletes from across the country who have the potential to eventually play on the Senior National Team. I am looking for a university that will give me that opportunity to grow and compete at a high level. If volleyball has taught me anything, it is that you have to work for every single little achievement, and I am the person who is willing to put in that work.
