Working my way up to varsity my sophomore season, has pushed me to work hard and be the best athlete I can be. I have grown to truly respect the sport of volleyball from playing both indoor and outdoor games. This sport has allowed me to meet and play with many current and former college players and current high school coaches as well. Over the past three summers I have been volunteering at Lexington Medical Center where I have learned how to work with all kinds of people. It has also taught me to be flexible, dependable and accountable.
My character has been noted to be very strong, which might be why I've been chosen to be the captain for every team I have ever played on since middle school. I am always wanting to learn more to better my skills and create strategies to win. I am very competitive while on the court, but in a positive way.
Coaches I have played for in the past and present have told me I'm very coachable, and that is something I work hard at. I think it's important for any team leader to demonstrate to the whole team how they are willing to do whatever the coaches are asking them to do. Trust and faith in the coaches are the cornerstone of a great team. This past varsity season (2017) is a good example of this. In the past, I was a setter, but when my coach asked me to play front row and back row without being a setter, I accepted her request and played my heart out. I can now see myself becoming a very consistent and reliable Libero who can transition into the setter's role when needed. During this year's USAV Club season, as fate would have it, you will find me playing either Libero, DS or Setter.
I'm looking for a college that will prepare me to become a successful professional in Graphic Communications or Graphic Design, while also working hard with my volleyball family to bring success to the school. Thank you for looking at my recruiting profile, I hope to hear from you soon.
