Hi my name is Madison Burns but my teammates call me Maddy. I am currently a junior (Class of 2022) at Mauldin High School in Mauldin, South Carolina where I play Libero / DS for the varsity volleyball team. I have played on the varsity team since I was an eighth grader. I also play club for FCA Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina as a Libero. I have played club volleyball since I was nine years old.
All of these personal statements from players pretty much sound the same. So here is what a previous coach had to say about me.
Maddy Burns is a dedicated, hard-working, ambitious student-athlete. She is a team player, truly
focusing more on the success of the team than anything about her. She supports her
teammates and pushes them to excel beyond what they believe they can do, yet leads them
with a servant leader focus, leading by example and focusing on every task done that needs to
be completed. Maddy is coachable, truly listening to instruction, actively engaging with coaches
to improve and be the best athlete she can be. She is encouraging, lifting up her teammates
through positive words and nonverbal communication also, supporting them to be the best on
and off the court. Engaged in every play on the court, Maddie is driven to excel. She is loyal,
loved and respected by her teammates and coaches and is an incredible team player. Maddy
will find great success in all she does, impacting the world around her in a incredible way.
