Carissa McGarity '18 Recruiting Profile

Hello my name is Carissa Mcgarity, as you may know, but here is a little bit about me that you probably don't know. After watching my aunt play volleyball for many years I decided that I wanted to play volleyball as well. I began with two years in BVYA at 10 in the 4^th grade and have been playing ever since. My first year in competitive club volleyball was at TCVA and that was for two years as a right hitter. Later I played on the 14’s and 15’s team at Centex as a middle and now have moved to SA Magic and play on the 164’s as a middle blocker.

To describe me as a player on the court would be someone who is an upcoming leader to my teammates, doing my best to keep everyone in good spirits and focused in order to have fun out on the court and enjoy volley ball. I am a hard worker and I strive to be the strongest player that I know I am. As a person I am willing to help out any one who seems to struggle. I am also willing to receive help and take constructive criticism.

My most experience on the court has been in the middle blocker position but I am fortunate enough to have had coaches give me a chance at working on more than just on position on the court. I have had two years of experience as a right side hitter, 1 high school year and 3 club seasons as middle and a setter my freshman year of high school. I’m willing to play any position that I’m needed to play. I just finished my sophomore year as a middle hitter during this year I developed a stronger block and became a stronger and smarter hitter, and have increased my volleyball IQ and court awareness I look forward to strengthening my versatility, increasing my court awareness, and aiding in the teams’ success as I continue to approach my senior year in high school.
