Hi, my name is Carina Alonso. I am a junior at Columbus High School in Columbus, Texas. My primary position is libero and my secondary is defensive specialist. I have been playing volleyball since the age of 10 years old and have never stopped loving the game. I aspire to play at a collegiate level where I can major in Biomedical Sciences in order to pursue my dream of getting into medical school. I hope to become a dermatologist after my college education. My family, coaches and friends are my driving force behind my dedication towards the game, my mom always told me when I was young “you can do anything that you set your heart to. ” I’ve always gone by her saying, even when in doubt during a game, I must play my best and have the most positive attitude so it can have an encouraging effect amongst my teammates. I believe that the dedication given towards education, practices, and time on the court , will all pay off in the end. Learning how to celebrate a win humbly and learning how to lose gracefully are two of the most important life lessons I have learned thus far.
