I started playing volleyball when I was in seventh grade, and I have loved the sport ever since. And while I've experienced many hardships through the years, every minute on the court has helped me improve as a leader and a player. My high school volleyball experience has made an incredible impact on my life and on me as a player. I joined varsity my freshman year and played alongside of some of the most hard-working, encouraging teammates I've ever met. They welcomed me into the program and pushed me to be a better person on and off the court. It was difficult at times, but it was an amazing learning experience and has helped me grow as a player. While playing volleyball, I have learned how to be an encouraging teammate whether I'm on the court or sitting the bench. I've also realized how important it is to keep a positive and competitive mindset. At the end of my sophomore season, I was informed that I was going to need open heart surgery. The next few months were the scariest of my life, but my teammates and friends were there to support me the whole way through. Going through surgery has made me a stronger person on and off the court, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to continue my passion for volleyball.
I do my best to keep up with school work while participating in community service and extra-curricular activities any time I can. I believe I have the leadership skills, passion, work-ethic and grit to be a valuable asset to your college program.
