Mikayla Buhr '24 Recruiting Profile

My  name is Mikayla Buhr and my future aspirations include playing college volleyball while obtaining a degree in Interior Design or Architecture.  I take academics seriously and currently have a 4.4 gpa. with adding in Honors classes.  I am seeking a volleyball scholarship but am also doing my part in academics.  I am a Christian and strive to work hard at whatever I do, many note my " kind " character in looking out for others which does set me apart.   I am respectful of those in authority and teachable, knowing  there are always ways to improve. In volleyball, I strive to be a team player and love to assist my team in working for a win.  My teachers and coaches have called me a natural leader;  this included Varsity Team Captain for the past 2 years, and  my school's student council for the past 4.  Defense is my favorite and I have primarily played libero over the past 6 years.  Some have described me as "bringing defense to life" when I am on the court and "keeping the ball in play".   However, my school team is small and has needed me to set up plays some the past 2 years- Setter experience has improved my Libero second sets during the club season. In school this year, I reached 1000 career Assists and 800 career digs.

My most exciting volleyball win to date was our club team win at Lone Star Spring 22 with me as their Libero, Incredible Crush 16U in the Liberty Division. This earned us a spot at nationals where we placed 5th in Liberty at GJNC while I was Libero. This is my 6th year of playing club volleyball and I was honored to be on the school Varsity team since my Freshman year.  Freshman year my school team won the state championship for 2A TCAL, I was the Libero. I have received All District and All State honors all 3 years of Varsity with this year being in TAPPS.  I love playing at a high level and have a drive to win.  Team sports are my favorite as each member contributes greatly.  It is my goal to assist in leading the team to victory.  Thank you so much for considering me- you won't be disappointed.
