I have always enjoyed art, science and athletic competition. One year my mom encouraged me to try volleyball. After my first practice, I was hooked. I look forward to having a career in sports medicine that will allow me to blend my interests and enthusiasm for the arts, sciences and sports.
My #1 strength as a player is that I am very coachable and it doesn't take long for me to put skills from practice into game play. Another strength I have is I am an adaptable player. My coaches have me play all around on the court and I play many positions. My main positions are middle blocker, outside, and back row passer (I am currently working on being able to play the setter position because I want to be able to play EVERY position. You never know when you could be put in!). I have a good sense of court awareness and spot serving is becoming a very consistent skill for me. Determination is one of my main focuses. I don't let a loss of points get to me; when I mess up, I shake it off and reset to score the next point.
During my college experience, I look forward to gaining more knowledge about the body, sports and developing my skills as a volleyball player even more. Since last year, I have been taking opportunities to getting college scouts to scout me at tournaments. I am excited about the potential that awaits and hope to speak with coaches and scouts at Division I, II and NAIA schools!
