Although I am a starting shortstop and leadoff hitter for my softball team and a power forward on our basketball team, my true passion and greatest level of enjoyment comes playing volleyball as an opposite side hitter. I have been competing in volleyball since the fifth grade and I am hoping to continue at the collegiate level while earning a degree. I am currently a junior in high school. Following my sophomore year I made the decision to transfer to a new, larger high school with more academic and athletic opportunities. Due to WIAA transfer rules however, I am now restricted to non-varsity competition until this fall when my senior year begins. After competing at the varsity level for my freshman and sophomore years it was definitely a change in competition level this year. What I've found though is that it has been a great experience competing on JV. With my previous volleyball experience, I found myself stepping up and working to be a teacher and leader on the court, looking at the game in a different way to best help my team and acting in a supporting and encouraging role for my teammates. Our JV team had a great year, only losing one match. I bring that same intensity I demonstrate in sports to my academics. I am taking challenging courses in order to better prepare me for college. Academics are very important to me and I aspire to gain the knowledge I need to be the best version of myself. Aside from sports and academics, I still find time to volunteer as an altar server at our parish and work as a farm hand at a local dairy farm. I look forward to earning a degree and playing volleyball at a college that values teamwork and hard work.
