Being a leader on the court is just as important as being a leader in the classroom. I have been involved in athletics my whole life and the lessons I’ve learned from these are life changing. Time management, critical thinking, soft skills, sportsmanship, and mental health are just a couple of crucial skills I have had to develop from athletics. Whether I am clapping up a play on the court or training in the weight room, I always try to bring those skills and leadership everywhere I go. Being coached since I was in first grade, I have developed skills that have formed me into a better athlete who is willing to accept mistakes, adjust, and learn. Anytime I have a coach, parent or teammate who gives me advice, I take it into consideration and utilize that time to grow. I believe I am different from other athletes because I don’t use criticism as a form of disrespect, but rather a lesson to learn and develop from.
