Sydney Selburg '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sydney Selburg and I'm a 2023 setter attending Westosha Central High School in Kenosha County, WI. I take the recruiting process and my dream of playing collegiate-level volleyball very seriously. Being a part of a team that is composed of bright, compassionate, and competitive young women is something I want to belong to. I strive to hold myself and others accountable and hope for the same in return. I see that I have a very high "volleyball/setter IQ" in myself. I can anticipate plays before they're made and make the best decisions possible to set my team up for success. For example, I'm able to deceive the opponent's block by "reversing the flow" or using my peripheral vision to see who the other team is biting on. I'm very vocal on the court in the best way possible. In general, I'm a very down-to-earth, calm, and humble person when I'm not playing volleyball. As soon as I'm thrown in some sort of competitive setting I am the loudest voice in the room and my positive energy uplifts others/bring everyone together! Constantly being a coachable player is key to me. I'll take any feedback from any coach I work with and make improvements to continue my growth. I'm everyone's number one supporter and seeing others succeed only emphasizes my passion and love for the sport.
