After participating on a competitive swim team for five years, I was introduced to the sport of water polo when I was 13 years old and realized I found my true athletic passion. Coming from swimming, which is an individual sport, the team aspect of water polo was appealing as I learned how to work as a team in order to accomplish a universal goal. Being on a team has its challenges as well as opportunities. Some adversities I have faced on my journey as a water polo player, especially when being part of a team, has been working with players who are less committed and do not have the same drive as I do, which can be frustrating at times. This has given me the opportunity to take the lead in team bonding exercises to encourage all players to build relationships and hopefully lead to a stronger team commitment. I was fortunate to be honored the "Most Inspirational Varsity Player" award my sophomore year, as well as "Best Defender Varsity Player" by junior year and all-league 1st team.
Education and learning have always been a priority in my life, and I aspire to attend a university that would challenge me and make me a better scholar as I ultimately pursue a degree in medicine. Looking ahead, my hope is to continue playing on my high school varsity team, participating in USA Water Polo events through my club affiliation, and playing through college.
